Ten individuals found guilty of digital abuse directed at Brigitte Macron

A Paris court has found guilty ten people for engaging in the digital intimidation of Brigitte Macron, the partner of the President of France, Emmanuel Macron.
The those on trial faced allegations of circulating fabrications regarding her gender identity and sexual orientation, in addition to making malicious remarks about the pair's significant age difference.
The court issued suspended prison sentences of a maximum of eight months to the defendants. The detailed judgment has still to be made public.
A longstanding unfounded claim alleging that Brigitte Macron is a transgender woman has spread widely since her husband's rise to the presidency in 2017.
This Monday's court decision in France coincides with the Macrons engaging in a libel case in the United States of America against political commentator Candace Owens, who has also voiced similar conspiracy theories about the French president's wife's gender.
Their legal filing contends that Owens brushed aside all credible evidence disproving her claim opting to platforming known conspiracy theorists.
Owens has regularly repeated these claims on her podcast and social networks, and in March 2024 stated that she would risk all her credibility on her insistence that Mrs. Macron is in fact a man.
Brigitte Macron originally became acquainted with her current spouse when she taught at his secondary school.
The pair tied the knot in 2007, when the man who would become president was 29 and she was in her mid-50s.
